Aluminium terrace decking installation project in Nelson, Lancashire
The AliDeck System of aluminium decking has been designed to provide the ideal solution for any deck scenario, be it on balconies, terraces, or walkways. The combination of our range of decking boards, joists, and pedestals provides the versatility to cope with literally any challenge.
Fire safety is the key issue affecting the construction and housing sectors. The requirement to perform fire safety remediation to satisfy new and updated regulations poses a major challenge for building owners and property managers. The surest route to achieving fire safety is to remove and replace all combustible materials with non-combustible alternatives, major works that our systems are tailor-made for.
We were really pleased to receive photographs of a recent terrace deck installation in Leeds from our Approved Installer, JB Project Services. Replacing the existing timber deck with AliDeck A-Rated materials, this refurbishment project has delivered a fire safe and highly durable new raised terrace deck, solving concerns on combustibility and longevity for the building owner at a stroke.
The existing timber deck consisted of combustible wooden boards and large timber beams installed to a flat roof area with waterproof membrane. The entire wooden structure was removed to reveal the considerable build-up height required to meet the finished floor level of the adjoining room.
The AliDeck Low Joist was used to build a new framework to support the deck surface. With the Low Joist mounted on its side, an enhanced span of up to 1500mm is achievable due to the additional strength gained when used on this axis.
Short sections of Low Joist were also cut to be used as vertical posts in place of pedestals. The use of our Supa and Low Joists in this way is a popular method when faced with a tall build-up requirement; excellent stability and extreme cost-effectiveness is achieved. Simple L-shaped brackets secure these posts to Spreader Plates, utilised to protect the membrane surface from penetration.
